They are not a substitute for eating all the right food groups in the correct quanity but can help supplement a healthy diet.

This is all part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle as well as taking regular exercise these are all the important things we need in order to live a long life. A good state of health is a highly desirable state as it enables us to lead happier and more productive lives.

 

The term health is used to refer to a person's state of being. This can either be physical health, mental health or both. A state of health is directly influenced by various factors such as social, environmental, genetics and lifestyle which can determine whether this is a positive or negative state.

 

Physical health refers to the body: in order to achieve a good or excellent level of physical health, a regime of exercise, diet and rest and recovery needs to be followed. To ensure the continuation of this state, avoidance of negative factors such as smoking, excessive alcohol intake and drugs is recommended.

Mental health refers to the mind: this includes stress management, self-confidence and esteem and generally, being able to function well on a day to day level. Negative factors include excessive levels of stress, suffering a major life crisis such as bereavement and trauma.

Other factors influence health such as access to healthcare systems, such as the NHS in the UK. Stress management, health and fitness programs in the workplace and public health initiatives such as vaccination.

A good state of health is a highly desirable state as it enables us to lead happier and more productive lives whilst being able to cope with any unexpected situation.
